Since I discovered Blood Ties was being turned into a TV series I thought I'd re-read the series that inspired it. I've just finished the last short stories. Which Tanya Huff has said will be the last in the Vicky Nelson series. I hope that she gives in to the lure of future short tales.

Yesterday two books arrived from Amazon.
This evening I visited Forbidden Planet (as usual) and bought two books, didn't buy anything at Murder One and when I got home there was another Amazon package with another 2 books.

Check LibraryThing for details. I've now entered over 1500 books and nearly all the books in my new book cases. Once I've done them it's going to be a little harder getting access to the remaining books.

And so we have the first Bank Holiday in May

And I spent the morning adding to my LibraryThing catalogue, read a bit then went back to the Orion Cinema this time to see "Spiderman 3" which was awesome!

When I got home, my sister and brother in law had returned home.

Saw the last two episodes of Who Wants to be a Super Hero and added the 1000th book to my LT catalogue [woot!] and I've uploaded 100 covers to LT too.

And now I'm watching Heroes.

Last night I received in the post "Succubus Blues" by Richelle Mead via amazon, this was a recommendation from one of my LJ friends, and so far...

I also watched a Mythbuster repeat, while entering further LibraryThing details, before stopping to see the last in the current series of "The Dresden Files" shown on Sky One. It's the one where Dresden meets Murphy's dad.

I stopped cataloging when I got to a total of 657 entries. If anyone wants to see how far I've got check http://www.librarything.com/catalog/mbernardi. You can sort by date read or date acquired

Currently I'm working on books I bought in the early 90s (these just happen to be the ones on the new shelves). I've also added the books I've read / bought since 1 April 2007 and will continue to add new books as I buy them.

For unknown reasons (though that the lawn was cut may be a contributing factor) I really started suffering with hay-fever, despite the pill I'd taken earlier. I felt really bad and I was suffering overnight too.

When I got into town (London) before work I bought something different and this seems to have had a small improvement but I still feel pretty wretched.

So last night I grabbed the last broadcast Blood Ties episode, "Stone Cold" for which Tanya Huff is credited as writer (go Tanya) and I started watching it this evening. Oh the pathos, and one or two lines really cracked me up.

Then I watched a "Mythbusters" revisit which was interesting, while simultaneously continued to add books to LibraryThing.

And finally on UKTV Docs "Inventions That Changed the World" presented by Jeremy Clarkson who told the story the the Computer from pencil pushers in Babbage's England to the current indispensable and ubiquitous silicon processor.

I didn't learn much that was NEW but the Clarkson spin, did make you think a bit.

Oh yes my LT total is now 606, (including 2 books that arrived from amazon today).

So on Friday night, with 3 new books from Forbidden Planet, I continued to add to my LibraryThing catalogue. I stopped at 450 which I thought was a fairly impressive number, before retiring to bed.

Saturday was bright and sunny, so a spent most of the day reading, apart from when I went shopping, which was a pleasant walk.

On my return I saw the next episode of Doctor Who, which was an excellent conclusion to the Dalek 2 parter

I was able to borrow my sisters scanner and scanned 27 covers and uploaded them to LibraryThing. These were books where the cover art on MY books didn't match any of the artwork held at LT.
It was fun doing the scanning, cropping and uploading and I've now got it down pat.

I then backed up the folder My Documents on my laptop to network storage and managed to delete 14 GB of data prior to a bittorent download of the next 3 episodes of Blood Ties. And so to bed.

Today I added another 14 covers to LT and currently have catalogued 530 books, which is a little below my earlier average, but I think 41 book covers has to balance that out.

As promised, I've now uploaded a photo diary of my library build and it can be found in my scrapbook.

My brother in law has just started building on the second wall, so further pictures should soon appear.

In addition I've been adding extensively to LibraryThing and now have catalogued 372 items! I do feel a degree of accomplishment, though it's less than 5% of my total collection!

For the last few posts I've been using the Semagic LJ Client rather than the web interface. There isn't much difference, but for some reason I can't enter a Subject when I'm using Firefox (default browser)

When I got back from work today I discovered that my brother in law had restarted building floor to ceiling bookcases (he's half way through number four) pictures coming soon I promise.

As a result I thought I'd better follow through on my part and after an intensive bought of cataloguing I've now got 260 entries in LibraryThing!

Last night was the second week of this term of juggling classes. Since I don't have a car I normally get a left from Ian, but he was away so I managed to cadge a lift from Pete instead.

There were only four of us in total (including "teacher" Tim) there were six students signed up this term. So there was plenty of space. Which was good as we did some club passing (in two sets of pairs).

I partnered with Tim and successfully passed 8 time before dropping anything. My best endeavor so far. Hopefully I'll get better over the next few weeks.

Once I got home I re-watched Doctor Who (3rd time) and then saw the latest episode of Heroes. Meanwhile I continued to enter more books to LibraryThing and managed a further fifty, which means all the Pratchett and most of the Bujold.

Which means that if I can keep going at the same rate every day (or at least an average of fifty per day) I might just finish in six months time!

I have noticed that, particularly with some older books, the cover barcode doesn't always match the ISBN, though, so far, the inside cover barcode does.

The one that surprised me the most was the NESFA edition of Shards of Honor, but then typos happen...

I've been adding books this evening, and have realised that even with all the best technology in the world it's going to take a long while to catalogue all my books, even just those in my new book cases.

I've have managed to all all my Pratchett and am working on the Bujold, but I've only added about fifty books ;(. The problem is that I want to include my acquisition date (I usually pencil this in on the front cover). This means I can't just import the ISBNs one after another, I've also discovered that ARCs have to be added manually...
