So yesterday was the last Science Museum Late of the year, and the theme was Christmas.

On the way from the South Kensington Tube station I passed the Natural History Museum, there was an Ice Rink and a Carousel outside the main building, the former was still open when I left the Science Museum just before ten.

Despite arriving at 18:15 there was already a long queue, though it's the closest I've been to the door so far! Doors didn't open until 18:50 and I got through the security check by 19:00.

There were two main items I wanted to go to and the first didn't start until 19:30 so I spent a few minutes learning to fold paper with the London Origami Group. I followed a diagram to make a christmas tree, then joined a group to make a spinning decoration.

By this time it was time to get queuing for "Miniature Toy Worlds" starting with a book by H G Wells on his son's play, continuing into its use a a therapy tool for children, after the Great War.

There was live carol singing near the main exit, and during one of the gaps I bought a very expensive (and sweet) traditional christmas mince pie. I also caught "Table Top Science" where three different oddities were shown. Making heaver than air soap bubbles using dry ice, Showing the odd behaviour of cornflour and water, and a demonstration of dropping eggs into glasses (eggs originally on tubes on card over the glasses, card knocked away, eggs in glasses) A better explanation is found here.

And finally the second programmed item, Punk Science Christmas Special which was a blend of comedy and lecture! Explaining it is impossible, you had to be there. And that was it. I almost forgot to mention the free candy canes that there had been more time to try them all but.... we were given as we entered, or the free chocolate egg we got if we left feedback as we left.

I thought that having more stuff you could just dip in to for a few minutes was a very good idea, I wish the had been more time to try them all.
