Eastercon day one

Due to poor planning I had to get up earlier than I do for work to get to the con to have any chance of catching any morning programming. Never again! Book extra days off in advance!
I got to the hotel earlier than expected, so I got to hear about the life of a proton from big bang to now. The speaker was wearing a Dendarii Mercenaries Cover Ops shirt, white with white embroidered writing, so I had a few words about the new book (tm).
This was followed by effectively a listing of time travel stories that generated alternate historis, with final reference to Pratchett's Theif of Time and Night Watch stories.
I nipped of early so I could get my room and get unpacked. The hotel does seem to get rooms cleaned a lot later than other hotels I've been in, maybe low staffing levels?
Book collection were then discused, and librarything got a good mention or two. Had lunch next door at McDonalds, they have a Monopoly game running and I've been collecting.
Met Elizabeth and Ian on a number of occasions, (last seen at Anticipation) and friend Malcom. In the afternoon I crashed and slept for three hours (getting up at 6:20 on a week end in no fun!)
After I woke up went to a podcast panel and got a few recomendations, follewed by the Opening Ceremony at 8:00!
Met Elizabeth and Ian in the queue for the wordcon in 2014 bid launch. Back in London for the first time since the sixties. I plunked down my pre-supporting membership (the first of many this w/e).
And the to bed....
